When it comes to using this app, there’s so much you can do, so if you are new to it definitely have a play around before you go ahead and use it. Now this is an app I’ve recently introduced into my Instagram editing routine and that was mainly because of the variety of filters they have. Once I’ve finished editing on Facetune, I save the image and move onto VSCO. It’s made a subtle difference in this photo, but honestly, try it out for makeup shots. For this specific shot, I applied the tool on my lashes, glitter liner and sparkly liquid lipstick. Now I use this on every single one of my Instagram photos to specifically sharpen certain areas of my photos it makes all of my makeup pop! For example if I’m wearing glitter or a metallic eyeshadow, it usually looks quite dull in the original image but after using the Details tool, the glitter or metallic is much more noticeable and you can see the sparkles.

Moving onto the next tool, I select Details. If I make it look really obvious as the Tones tool is flat colours, I then just use the Eraser, again dabbing on my screen. A good tip is to gently dab your fingers on your phone screen as sometimes the colour can come out quite intense. I use the Picker tool to select a colour nearby I want to shade over the top with and then I use the Tones tool to colour over.

It might be that there’s a patch missing on my lipstick or like the image above you can see the join of the false lashes. The next step is using the Tones tool and the reason I use this is to touch up my makeup.

The way this works, is it picks up another area of skin to replace the area where there might be a blemish. I did however need to use the patch tool as I had a tiny speck of glitter on my cheek. I find this helps the actual eye makeup pop. I usually use it for super close up eye shots, where I smooth out my eye makeup if I need to blend a little more and even sometimes the skin around my eyes. For this particular shot my skin looks pretty smooth anyway so I decided against using this tool. I always like to prep my skin first using the Smooth and Patch tools. So let’s start with the original beauty shot. There’s some great tools within the app and the main ones I use are: Whiten, Smooth, Details, Patch and Tones. I’ve been using this app for a while now and absolutely love it. FACETUNEįacetune is the first app I put my images through. Facetune has the tools to give your photos a tune-up (pictures) Facetune offers photo editing tools that can make a bad hair day all but disappear. Create a patch, or copy detail to another area. The selection does not have to be precise it can overlap into areas outside the object you want to remove. You can also use any of the selection tools. You can use the Patch tool just like the Lasso tool to create the selection. The Patch tool works from a selection of the area you want to patch. Can you use Facetune2 to edit your face? The app has a wide array of tools for photo editing. A great tip when using the Patch tool is to use a number of smaller patches, which can help produce a more natural result. Swipe your finger over the area where you are looking to apply the Patch use two fingers to reposition and adjust the patch. To show you exactly how I edit my photos, I thought I would screenshot all of the different steps on my phone, and show you every step from the original photo, to the Instagram worth one. I love this function as it’s really useful to have whilst on the go or when I’m travelling without my laptop. Both of these cameras have a wifi function which means I can easily transfer the images from my camera to my phone within minutes. This means I am able to achieve sharp, detailed photos that I can then work with to get the desired ‘instagram’ look I want. Firstly, 99% of the time all of my Instagram photos are shot on one of my cameras either my Canon G7X Mark II for beauty shots or my Canon 70D for my fashion shots. So I thought I’d put together a post on how I edit my Instagram photos, so it answers all of your questions. However I received a few comments recently asking me questions like, ‘how do you get the fuzziness on your photos’, ‘how do you get your images so sharp’ etc. I’m pretty sure we each have our own way of editing our Instagram photos. Then, running along the bottom of the main interface, you have a bunch. After downloading and installing it, grant access to your photos and choose a portrait photo.
